Privacy and personal data
Last updated 19 October 2026
Minbar is run by Baqiyah MTÜ, a registered non-profit association in Estonia. This page says what data is processed, why, and by which services. Questions go to hej@getminbar.com.
If you are reading the khutbah
- You need no account, no sign-in and no app.
- Minbar sets no cookie for analytics. Your phone only stores your own settings, such as your language, text size and whether Arabic is shown, and they never leave the device.
- When you pick a language, an anonymous count is sent: the language, the country (from the network, not your location) and a random id that disappears when the tab closes. It shows how many people read, and in which languages.
- Page views and clicks are counted with PostHog, without cookies. No analytics contain names or contact details.
- Ratings of the translation are anonymous.
For the mosque and the imam
- At registration we store the mosque's name, city, contact person and email, to run the service and reach the mosque.
- During a broadcast, audio from the imam's phone is sent to Minbar. It is stored as a recording together with the Arabic transcript, the translations and the summary.
- To transcribe and translate, the audio and text are sent to AI services in the USA (see the table). They are used for that only.
- The mosque's archive is open to anyone with the link. If the mosque switches it on in the imam console, search engines can find it too.
