Understanding the Khutbah in One's Own Language
When Allah describes how messengers were sent, He emphasizes understanding as the purpose:
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا بِلِسَانِ قَوْمِهِ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَهُمْ
"And We did not send any messenger except with the language of his people so that he would make [things] clear for them." - Quran 14:4 (Ibrāhīm)
أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْآنَ أَمْ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبٍ أَقْفَالُهَا
"Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an, or are there locks upon [their] hearts?" - Quran 47:24 (Muhammad)
For young people born in Sweden, for new converts, and for everyone who doesn't speak Arabic as their first language, an entire khutbah can pass without a single word sticking. Making the message understandable, without changing the khutbah itself, serves its true purpose. That's the whole idea behind Minbar.
